Interdisciplinary Dialogues on Autism and Schizophrenia

This volume proposes an original model for interdisciplinary research in psychopathology. It is organized around four major essays, each written by a different author, that explore autism and schizophrenia from distinct yet complementary perspectives. Following each of these main essays, the other contributors—sometimes in cooperation with additional scholars—write shorter papers that critically engage with the preceding work and expand its themes into new theoreti- cal and clinical directions. Through this structure, the book unfolds as a dialogical project where methodological and conceptual approaches intersect across disciplinary boundaries. Rooted in the open tradition of the cognitive sciences, it draws on phenomenology, semiotics, neuroscien- ce, psychiatry, and experimental psychology, as well as on therapeutic practices employing immersive tools and participatory strategies. In doing so, it demonstrates how sustained collaboration among diverse fields can deepen our understanding of embodiment and the dynamics of mental disorder.
